About Me

I am Nur Al Faisal, originally from the port city of Chittagong in Bangladesh. My educational journey began with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Bank Management at the National University of Bangladesh, where I proudly graduated as the valedictorian. My professional career commenced at Grameen Bank, an organization honored with a Nobel Prize. Later, I transitioned to a prominent commercial bank in Bangladesh, where I gained valuable experience over the course of a year.

During this period, my growing interest in economics and financial markets prompted me to pursue further education. Consequently, I obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of Dhaka’s Institute of Business Administration (IBA). Following this, I embarked on a career as a lecturer at BIBM, the research and training institute affiliated with the Central Bank of Bangladesh. My time there, spanning approximately four years, was marked by a deep appreciation for teaching and research, ultimately motivating me to pursue a Ph.D. in finance. My search for the perfect academic institution led me to LSU’s Department of Finance, where I completed my Ph.D. Presently, I am delighted to be a part of Texas A&M International University as an Assistant Professor of Finance within the Department of International Business and Financial Studies.

In essence, my passion lies firmly at the crossroads of research and education. I am wholeheartedly committed to cultivating an environment that nurtures intellectual development and promotes impactful research. As I step into my role as an Assistant Professor, I am eager to direct my energies toward realizing these goals. The principles upheld by Texas A&M International University, particularly their emphasis on supporting research and prioritizing student-centered teaching, strongly align with my own values and aspirations.

As for my hobbies, I have a sincere love for travel, particularly when it involves adventurous activities. I have already experienced Bungee Jumping, Sky Diving, Snorkeling, and Parasailing. In the future, I plan to explore Scuba Diving and Deep-Sea Fishing. Photography is another passion of mine, and I maintain an Instagram page where I share the photos I capture during my travels.

Beyond that, soccer holds a special place in my heart. I actively participate in both indoor and outdoor soccer and am an avid supporter of Real Madrid, even owning a few jerseys. While I haven’t had the chance to witness their games in person yet, I hope to do so when I visit Europe, specifically Madrid. My interest in American football developed after I came to the US, with LSU becoming my college football team of choice, and Joe Burrow ranking as my favorite player. While I’ve attended games at Tiger Stadium a handful of times, I primarily watch them on TV. Tennis and running by the lake are weekend activities I enjoy, and I have a particular fondness for swimming, especially in natural bodies of water such as lakes and seas.
