About
I am originally from the port city of Chittagong, Bangladesh. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Bank Management from National University, Bangladesh, graduating as valedictorian, and began my career at Grameen Bank before spending a year as a credit analyst at United Commercial Bank.
A growing interest in economics and financial markets led me to an MBA in Finance at the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. I then spent about five years as a Lecturer at BIBM, the research and training institute of the Central Bank of Bangladesh, where I came to love teaching and research. That led me to the Ph.D. program in Finance at Louisiana State University, and in 2023 I joined Texas A&M International University as an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Division of International Banking and Finance Studies.
Outside work

I love travel, especially with some adventure involved: I’ve been bungee jumping, skydiving, snorkeling, and parasailing, and scuba diving and deep-sea fishing are next on the list. I share my travel photography on Instagram.
I play indoor and outdoor soccer and am a lifelong Real Madrid supporter. Since coming to the U.S. I’ve also become an LSU football fan. On weekends you’ll find me playing tennis, running, or swimming, ideally in a lake or the sea.
